Be Your Own SHERO

Rosemary, what has been your greatest challenge with menopause and how have you overcome it?

Keeping my energy level high and my weight low!! The fatigue is no joke. Gaining a true understanding and appreciation for what drives insulin resistance was the key for me.

I FINALLY had to really adjust my carbohydrate intake and my workouts.  Like everyone else I made plenty of justifications to myself about my food and workouts and fell into the classic underestimation of what I was eating and overestimating the effectiveness of my workouts.

I needed to make changes that would increase my insulin sensitivity and keep my fasting insulin levels low. When I started tracking my food daily (5 years and counting), lowered my total carbohydrate intake, increased my fiber-rich carb choices, increased protein and healthy fat intake, and significantly increased weight training my energy increased and weight decreased. I set a daily intention to continue with these efforts because I feel in control, at peace, and blessed with health and energy.

What do you hope every woman gains from the program?

Empowerment! Decide that you are worth the effort it takes to make changes to meet your health and wellness goals.  Decide what YOU would like the second half of your life to look and feel like. This is your time to stand up and be counted, not by others but by YOU. Not only do you need to be on your to-do list but there are times you need to be at the top of that list.  Say no to protect your YES (self-care).
